Anxiety Free Dentistry
Some patients have fears that go back to a bad childhood dental experience or other trauma. These patients tend to put off getting routine dental treatment because of the emotional trauma they go through just trying to get to the office. We offer three types of sedation to provide an anxiety free visit: Nitrous Oxide, Oral Conscious Sedation, and IV Sedation.
Nitrous Oxide
Dr. Casagrande offers nitrous oxide to any patients requiring dental work. The nitrous oxide "laughing gas" is usually able to control most persons anxiety over dental treatment. Those patients with needle phobia find nitrous to be a great way to get their dental work done. The nitrous is a relative inexpensive way to relieve nervous tension during injections.
Oral Conscious or IV Sedation
Sedation involves taking anti-anxiety agents and the use of nitrous oxide. If you have fear of dentists, please call the office and discuss setting up an exam appointment. On that appointment we will take x-rays and examine your teeth to determine what treatment needs to be done. Then we will make a future appointment to do the treatment under sedation.
Generally, when we do sedation appointments, we try to do most of the dental work in one appointment. If you don't necessarily have a dental phobia, but just want to get your dental treatment complete in one appointment, sedation may be the answer.
